Advice to Groups with Children
Before your visit
Decide what the ratio of student/pupil/child to teacher/assistants/parents should be. Everyone should wear suitable clothing especially if rain is forecast and should bring sturdy outdoor footwear.
With regard to children please ensure that they:-
  • do not eat or put hands in their mouths unless they have been washed.
  • eat only in designated areas and wash their hands thoroughly first.
  • do not scare the animals or climb on or through the fences and barriers protecting the animals unless accompanied by a member of farm staff.
  • wash their hands when leaving the farm and again after visiting the toilets.
All children must be supervised during the visit, in particular during washing to make sure that each child washes thoroughly. Soap and warm water are available in the hand washing area.
Health and Safety
The health and safety of our staff and visitors are of upmost priority. Risks created by the farm environment are properly assessed by way of regular Risk Assessments, which are available at the farm for inspection or online here. We recommend that schools perform their own risk assessments prior to visiting the farm.
We allow a free pre-visit to accommodate this. You can book your pre-visit online here
First Aid facilities are available at the farm but schools and groups should be accompanied by at least one responsible person with a current nationally recognised first aid qualification and bring their own medical kit.
The farm is covered by Public and Employers Liability Insurance for which the Certificate is available for inspection.
Fire checks are carried out daily. Emergency Fire Procedure instructions and numerous health and safety rules are posted clearly around the farm.
