The Goats
We have 4 goats on the farm, that came to us from the Halifax RSPCA.

Two young Saanen cross breed (white short-haired goats) who we have named Millie and Greta (Greta has just grown her beard) and two Toggenburg cross breed (multi-coloured long coat) named Mary and Martha (possibly Mary’s daughter).

It took Mary and Martha quite a few months to become confident with us as they are a little older and events had affected them more than the younger two.
Having them was a steep learning curve for us too as we battled to keep them in their barn stalls, which had to be built higher and higher to contain them and stop their barn parties in the early hours, which always meant a lot of clearing up! All are a little mischievous and sometimes enjoy giving us the run around on the way out to their paddock but they love to be cuddled, groomed and fussed over.

They suffer terribly with their feet on wet ground and prefer to sit on a tarpaulin than wet grass. We wish we could get wellies for goats!
