The Geese
The geese came to us early in 2008.

They were hatched in 2007 but had been underfed and needed building up. It has taken all year for them to mature and we have waited for eggs all the time in vain, thinking they were like chickens and then assuming they were all ganders due to the lack of eggs.

But we have recently read that geese do not normally lay eggs before their 2nd year and then usually only from March to May.

We think there is a little Steinbacher in them but it's hard to tell.
We are hoping that we will have goose eggs and possibly even goslings next Spring โ€“ but then again there is the worry that all may be ganders โ€“ or even worse โ€“ two of them may be ganders and we may have to say goodbye to one. We doubt whether we would be lucky enough to have 3 geese and have to buy a gander in order to have goslings?

At the moment they get on very well together and all is well!
